Trauma Is Life Itself And Why That Changes Everything According to the official definition, trauma is an experience in which a person encounters real or potential danger to their life, or a direct threat to their physical integrity. By that definition, we arrive at a striking conclusion — even the act of birth represents a form of trauma. From that very first moment, trauma becomes an intrinsic part of life.
